You show a pad of paper to the spectators and begin to talk about how slates and chalks were used in the past. Instead you will try some modern day spirit writing, using only a pad of paper and a toothpick.

You tear a sheet of paper from the pad and hand it to a spectator along with a toothpick. You ask them to attempt to write their initials on the paper using the toothpick. Of course they cannot. It's just a toothpick!

So that the paper cannot be switched, the spectator uses a real pencil to write their initials in the top corner. They can see the paper is normal too.

A card is selected randomly from a deck and placed face-down on a table. Nobody sees it's face.

You ask the spectator to choose any toothpick from a box, and to examine it carefully. It is an ordinary toothpick and contains no pencil lead etc.

You summon a spirit to cause the toothpick to write like a pencil. You close your eyes and hold the toothpick to the paper, asking the spirits for assistance. As you begin to write, real pencil writing appears on the paper! The spirits are really causing black magic to happen. And their card is predicted!

This trick can be seen from all angles. The ordinary toothpick really is writing on paper!
